Nigel Gann Managing Director, launches the new WorkingInSchool.net

Your new website, dedicated to everyone who works in, or is interested in, schools, was launched last week. Paddy Ashdown appeared on video to praise the new site. The site aims to help create, and give a voice to, the community of schoolworkers in this country and around the world. How often do we hear the true voices of the people who work in schools? Here you can exchange ideas, inspire each other, swap tips to improve your lives and wellbeing, join in competitions - or just chat. Here you’ll find:

• regular blogs – from people who work in schools and from parents who have strong views about schools;

• featured bloggers – people whose ideas can help to shape our work;

• discussion forums – subjects already raised include teaching methods; end-of-year presents for staff; and stress;

• news – we’ve already exclusively broken a puzzling story about a Cornish academy and its Ofsted report;

• book reviews;

• competitions – watch out for our summer holiday writing competition;

• places to post tributes to colleagues who are moving on;

• and more . . .

The social networking website for school staff is managed by Somerset-based schools expert Nigel Gann, who launched it last week. He wants it to be a virtual staffroom aimed at anyone working in schools, including teachers, caretakers, teaching assistants, catering, office staff and senior leaders. Parents and volunteers are welcome too. “WorkingInSchool.net is all about supporting and encouraging people who work in our schools to make things better for children and young people”, said Nigel. “Join us, and help to make schoolworking a profession to be proud of.”
